Julia Jackson, a Modern Wine Connoisseur

Born 1988, Julia Jackson has become one of the biggest names in the wine industry. Her family’s wine company, Jackson Family Wines, operates with six wineries throughout the world. In fact, Asia is the only continent on which Jackson Family Wines doesn’t have a winery. Like all modern wine connoisseur’s, however, there’s a compelling story behind Julia’s passion for wine.

Julia Jackson and her two siblings, Katie and Christopher, grew up in sunny San Francisco, where they began picking grapes for their father at an early age. In the summer, she worked at one of the family’s wineries, where she met a young French woman who taught her French.

Julia later enrolled in Scripps College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). This wasn’t the end of her academic studies, however. She went on to earn a certificate in general management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Between her studies, Julia worked at a local middle school, teaching the French language to her sixth-grade students.

While most people associate Sonoma County with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Julia believes the region is best acclimated for Cabernet. According to Julia, this is largely due to the limited marketing resources of Sonoma wineries. Sonoma doesn’t receive the same exposure as other, more well-known regions like Napa Valley. Therefore, Cabernet produced in the region is often overlooked by consumers.

When she’s not busy promoting Jackson Family Wines, Julia works as a spokeswoman for Cambria Estates, a nonprofit organization that empowers women in pursuing their careers and professional endeavors. In an interview with Breakthru Beverage Group, Julia reveals that her mom was the driving force behind her decision to work with Cambria Estates.

Today, Jackson Family Wines is an industry-leading producer of fine wines, including La Crema, Santa Barbara, Byron, Arrowood, Fortress, Carmel Road and many others.

George Soros and the Power of Progressive Politics

George Soros first rose to political fame during the 2004 Presidential Election campaign of Al Gore. Soros would go on to donate a staggering $27 million to Gore’s campaign in an effort to take incumbent President George W. Bush out of office. Obviously, Bush would win the election albeit in controversial circumstances but the statement was clear: George Soros is here to stay and he’s willing to put his money where his beliefs are. Still, Soros decided to scale back his contributions to political campaigns following that election season, preferring instead to focus on his own philanthropy and work abroad. However, the 2016 election season of Trump v. Clinton was enough to motivate him out of the shadows. Know more about George Soros on Investopedia.

For liberals and progressives there are few billionaires out there that are putting their money where their beliefs are and that is what makes George Soros so special. In fact, so rare are liberal billionaire donors that he has become something of a boogeyman to the entire right wing faction of politics in the United States. Soros is coming back now and the right is ready to have another freak out about his involvement in politics. Soros was fueled to return by the rise of populism espoused by then Presidential Candidate Donald J. Trump. Soros called him one of the biggest threats to America and Soros acted like it, too.

Read more:

George Soros came out to support Hillary Clinton and a host of other progressive candidates during the 2016 campaign. Michael Vachon, the political adviser for George Soros, said that the stakes were “exceptionally high” in politics and that Soros could not just sit idly by and watch as Trump campaigned to strip America of everything he believed in. Vachon goes on to say, “They were high even before Trump became the nominee because of the hostility on the other side.”

George Soros has always believed in a grassroots approach to political activism and that has been his M.O. with turning the Open Society Foundations into a global juggernaut. The Open Society Foundations is a monumental philanthropic endeavor that seeks to empower people all across the globe in their fight for democracy, unity, and progressive ideals. One such place that these ideals were seized upon was in Ferguson, MO during the Ferguson Protests.

The Ferguson Protests were foisted upon America following the shooting death of Michael Brown, a black man, by Officer Darren Wilson, a white man. The protests were a response to the systemic police brutality and discrimination that was found to be rampant in the Ferguson Police Department. These protests were also funded, in part, thanks to donations from George Soros to grassroots activist campaigns. Soros believes that the people should be in charge of their future but that they might need funding in order to help make that change happen. Read this story at about George Soros.
