Those who deserve the most respect are those who are willing to call evil what it is and dedicate their lives to eliminating it. When mankind has done this in the past, we have seen things like the Nazi regime defeated, communist Russia topple, and freedom secured in the United States of America.
While you do not have to stand up against that level of evil to make a difference, everyone is expected to do their part. Two men who are trying to make Arizona a better place to live in are Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin.
Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin have made it their life’s work to oppose and stop the evils of Maricopa County Sheriff Joseph Arpaio. Sheriff Joe Arpaio calls himself “America’s Toughest Sheriff.” He crowned himself with such a title because he is proud of the staunch line he takes when it comes to illegal immigration in the state of Arizona.
While many American citizens may find that a noble task, when you hear the ways he secures the border, you will begin rethinking your position and believe that you are dealing with a homicidal man.
The first example that Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin found that shows how evil Sheriff Joe Arpaio is was the time he broke into the home of a Latino family because he received an unconfirmed tip that the home was functioning as a drug cartel hideout.
Refusing to check out the validity of this tip, Sheriff Joe Arpaio rushed there with his men and stormed the entire building while the family was having dinner. Once no weapons or drugs were found, Sheriff Arpaio ordered his men to set the walls on fire because this would somehow cover his tracks. To break your heart, even more, Sheriff Joe Arpaio put the pets of the family back into the home where they burned alive.
The second example that Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin reported on showing how evil Joe Arpaio is was the time he allowed an unborn child to die while the mother was pleading for somebody to save it. A woman who was Latino and eight months pregnant was brought into the Maricopa County jail system. Once she was admitted and given a cell, she complained about abdominal pain and saying she couldn’t feel the baby. Sheriff Joe Arpaio denied her the right to see a physician. As a result of this inhumane act, the child in the womb died a needless death.
Once Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin made these things public, Sheriff Joe Arpaio came under heavy fire. He knew that something had to be done, so he obtained an illegal warrant in order to take Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin captive.
Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin would end up settling a lawsuit for $3.75 million with the Maricopa County. The funds were then used to start the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund. This funds only mission is to reverse the evils of Joe Arpaio.
